Based on the reinterpretation of Mayan cosmovision by Aj Qij (Mayan spiritual guide) of the Kukulkán lineage, C.R. Kan, kankueb is a practical system for transforming the human being's animal nature toward more sophisticated and refined mental, physical, emotional and anthropocentric qualities — leading to greater inner authority, empowerment and personal fulfillment.
The word kankueb is made up of three syllables:
Some Mayan elders, among them don Gerardo Barrios, have defined it as the Mayan path of energy work to expand the heart, or the system for directing energy toward the activation of the heart.
Chakra Raja Kan defines it as the Mayan discipline for awakening and developing human transformative potential toward growth, fulfillment and transcendence (kan), through the process of managing consciousness via visualizations that focus the mind (ku), in the practice of body movements and gestures that channel consciousness (eb) through different dimensions of the mind.
C.R. Kan explains that, interpreting the word through the individual meaning of each of its 3 syllables, we can relate Mesoamerican Mayan kankueb to Indian tantra, since it involves concepts similar to Hindu kundalini theory — namely chakras, nadis and kundalini.
The practice of kankueb involves body movements and gestures accompanied by elaborate visualizations and/or internal sensations based on symbols that are part of Mayan cosmovision, which stimulate and regulate the nervous system, fostering greater control and development of movement and bodily stillness, as well as a more stable, focused, harmonious, creative and clear mental and cognitive process. Kankueb helps develop and reach different levels and forms of mental connection, referred to as "dimensions" within the tradition's shamanic view.
All of this also translates into greater control of the emotional process, and the development of the capacity to cultivate feelings and states of being more conducive to happiness and human fulfillment.

Kankueb involves performing body movements and gestures, accompanied by visualizations of images or internal sensations, based on symbols that are part of Mayan cosmovision, in order to develop and reach different levels and forms of mental connection referred to as "dimensions" within the tradition's shamanic view.
While neuroscience increasingly reveals the nature of this kind of cognitive and mental experience, detaching it from the post-Paleolithic shamanic and mystical view and attributing it to neural processes, Chakra Raja Kan has recovered and adapted the practices and principles that are useful and effective for healthy human development, cultivating mental qualities through bodily and imaginative work, aligning that development with scientific knowledge as far as possible.
In Mayan mythology there is a prophecy stating that the earth's point of greatest energy concentration, called kaokán, was located in the Himalayas for 5,200 years. Starting in 1950, it began its journey toward the American Andes, to settle there permanently for the next 5,200 years starting in the year 2012. Because of this, the same force that drove great spiritual development around the Himalayas is now unfolding in South America.
Based on this legend, wise elders of the Guatemalan Mayan world instructed don Carlos and don Gerardo Barrios (Mayan spiritual guides) to lead and carry out the integration of eastern spiritual knowledge with indigenous American spiritual knowledge. This process had to take place mainly with people from Colombia, as it is the "head" of the spiritual wing (South America) that forms the eagle that is the American continent.
Several people were thus prepared on the traditional "sac be," the white path of the Maya. As a walker of the sac be and disciple of the two Mayan guides mentioned above, C. R. Kan followed their instructions, dedicating his life to recovering, developing, systematizing and teaching the Mayan kankueb he learned from them, further integrating it with the tantric yoga of India for teaching it in today's world.

Kankueb rests on two major foundations.
1. The Mayan calendar and the cosmovision that supports it: used as a daily guide for self-knowledge, as well as for cultivating and reinforcing ethical principles, and systematizing the kankueb practices that help develop the potential of body and mind.
2. The techniques and practices of kankueb, namely:
The Mayan calendar and kankueb interact to noticeably improve personal processes in general. Its techniques are based on ancestral knowledge known as the "Kukulkán lineage," of which C.R. Kan is currently one of the custodians, and which you will only find systematized this way in his school and, of course, on this website.
One of the kankueb techniques is IKYnesis, developed from the Feldenkrais Method® — together they form the IKY System.
